Hybrid-Training: Kraft + Ausdauer in einem Plan (HYROX-inspiriert) – Titelbild

Hybrid training: strength + endurance in one plan (HYROX-inspired)

Strong in the studio, but out of breath after two flights of stairs? Or runners with wobbly arms? Hybrid training – the combination of strength and endurance training in one week – is rightly the biggest trend in fitness, fueled by events like HYROX. The good news: Both work at the same time if the plan distributes the units wisely. Here it is.

The principle: keep interference small

Strength and endurance "interfere" with each other far less than has long been claimed - as long as you follow three rules:

  • Separate hard sessions: There are at least 24 hours between heavy leg training and intervals.
  • Loose means relaxed: The long run is at a chat pace (Zone 2). Anyone who races here will be exhausted on strength day.
  • Eating like a hybrid: Anyone who trains on two levels needs calories and 1.8-2.2 g of protein per kilogram - protein contributes to maintaining and increasing muscle mass.

The training week

Tag Unit Content
Monday Force A – heavy Squat 4×5 · Bench press 4×5 · Row 4×6–8 · Plank 3×45 sec
Tuesday Intervals 10 minutes easy + 6× 400 m briskly (break: same time walking/trot) + 10 minutes easy
Wednesday Free / active Walk or 30-45 min Zone 2 (bike, rowing)
Thursday Force B – functional Walking lunges 3×10 per leg · Shoulder presses 3×8–10 · Farmers carries 4×40 m · Wall balls 3×15 · Pull-ups/rows 3×max
Friday Free Legs up, catch up on sleep
Saturday Hybrid WOD 5 laps: 500 m run · 15 wall balls · 10 burpees - even pace, short breaks
Sunday Long run 45-70 min Zone 2 - you can have a conversation while doing it, otherwise it's too fast

8 week progression

Week Force Stamina
1-2 Find weights, RIR 2-3 Intervals 6× 400 m, long run 45 min
3 +2.5 kg on basic exercises if all sets are clean Intervals 8× 400 m, long run 50 min

Supply: What hybrid athletes really need

Training two systems means sweating twice. Magnesium contributes to normal muscle function, electrolyte balance and the reduction of fatigue - perhaps the most useful supplement of all for those who sweat a lot. Our endurance set also includes a multivitamin and L-citrulline, the classic pump from the running world:

Ausdauer-Set: MST Magnesium + Olimp Vita-Min + NNT Arginin HCL

Matching savings set

Endurance set: MST Magnesium + Olimp Vita-Min + NNT Arginine HCL

Magnesium, multivitamin and L-citrulline - tailored for endurance phases.

It's worth replenishing electrolytes in the bottle after 45-60 minutes of exercise - especially in summer and during long runs:

Hydrations-Set: ESN HydroEnergy (Elektrolyte) + BioTech ZMB

For long units

Hydration set: ESN HydroEnergy (electrolytes) + BioTech ZMB

Electrolytes plus magnesium - replenishment for everything over 45 minutes.

And because progress happens at night: casein provides protein for hours, while magnesium helps reduce tiredness and fatigue. The evening ritual for hard weeks:

Schlaf & Erholung: BioTech Micella + ESN Magnesium + MST Sleep IQ

Overnight regeneration

Sleep & Recovery: BioTech Micella + ESN Magnesium + MST Sleep IQ

Casein, magnesium and sleep support - the evening package for tough training weeks.

Frequently asked questions

Do I lose muscle from running?

Not with this plan: two heavy strength sessions plus sufficient protein and calories maintain the muscles. Muscle loss threatens with a calorie deficit plus running volumes without strength training - that's exactly what we avoid here.

Can I swap a day?

Yes, as long as the rule stands: never two hard units directly behind each other. The long barrel and force A should be as far apart as possible.

I want to start at a HYROX - is the plan enough?

As a foundation: absolute. 8-12 weeks before the event you should specifically install the competition stations (SkiErg, Sled, Rowing, Sandbag) if your studio has the equipment. You can already train the combination “run + work + run” with the Saturday WOD.

What if I only have 4 days?

Cancel Wednesday and a run - keep both strength sessions and the hybrid WOD. The mix makes the plan, not the quantity.

By the way: You can find all of our savings sets collected in the Starter sets and Professional sets. If you want peace of mind, stock up: as a 30-day , 90-day or annual supply.
