One thing is clear: Anyone who does sports sweats - and those who sweat lose fluids and minerals. For sporting activities lasting less than an hour, a sip from the water bottle is enough, but after that you need special drinks as an additional boost, which are called isotonic. A decisive factor is a rather inconspicuous electrolyte that literally turns your sports drink into premium gasoline and ensures that the liquid can be absorbed quickly: sodium!
In addition, the body not only loses fluid during exercise, it also uses up a lot of carbohydrates. It is therefore important to ensure supplies here too. Because if the blood sugar level drops, there is a risk of so-called starvation - and the dreaded man with the hammer can put an abrupt end to the hard workout.
